Goals: The Atlantic Provinces Education Foundation's publication, "Essential Graduation Learnings in Schools", identifies the goals and rationale which help ensure that Atlantic region provincial education systems' meet their mission by design and intention. One of these learnings is "Technological Competence".The general curriculum outcomes are as follows: to use a variety of technologies, demonstrate an understanding of technological applications and apply appropriate technologies for solving problems. to locate, evaluate, adapt, create and share information using a variety of sources and technologies. to demonstrate understanding of and use existing and developing technologies. to demonstrate understanding of the impacts of technology on society. to demonstrate understanding of ethical issues related to the uses of technology in a local and global context. Objectives: The students and staff of Port Hood Consolidated will: publish a Millennium CD yearbook to chronicle the years of Port Hood Consolidated. participate in "Twin Site 2000". participate in "Generations Canconnect", a project sponsored by, CBC Radio Canada. become more involved in the GLOBE environmental monitoring program. communicate with other NIS schools and other GLOBE schools to promote the exchange ideas and data. involve parents and community in our web projects. involve St F X University in research concerning our NIS project. become involved in an international exchange of ideas. produce dramatic and musical productions. showcase school talent on community cable channel. create scientific and literary documentary productions. record instrumental and vocal musical talents . produce school newsletter and make it available on web page. constantly revise and update our school web page. participate in numerous field trips. be able to put to use in an innovative and creative manner new equipment provided by NIS. be provided with the tools to begin an interest in a technology career. have the opportunity to create and present music using technology to demonstrate their skills. Time line: We hope to accomplish these goals by the end of the current school year. Where appropriate, they will be carried over to the following year.
